Massive Fire at Gerstube Factory Halts Production, MUDMASKY Impacted
On Saturday, April 5th, 2025, a devastating fire tore through the Gerstube factory in Vic-Fezensac, France. The site specialises in the production of soft plastic tubes, making it a critical manufacturing partner for cosmetic brands like MUDMASKY.
The fire broke out around 11:45 a.m., producing a thick black smoke cloud visible up to 30 kilometres away. Emergency services responded quickly, with around 100 firefighters from 14 nearby fire stations arriving at the scene. Due to the presence of potentially toxic materials on-site, chemical risk specialists were also deployed to manage the situation.
The blaze destroyed approximately 6,000 m² of buildings, including Gerstube’s main production hall. Fortunately, no one was injured, as the factory was closed at the time.
By the afternoon, the fire had been brought under control, although cooling and monitoring operations continued into the evening. According to a statement from the local municipality, there is no contamination of drinking water, and early air and water tests indicate no danger to the public. Additional environmental analysis is ongoing.
Founded in 1947, Gerstube employs over 70 people and is a key part of the local economy. The incident has caused deep concern in the community of Vic-Fezensac.
For MUDMASKY, the impact is immediate. All of our signature skincare tubes are produced at this factory. With production halted indefinitely, delays in delivery are expected. We are actively exploring alternative solutions, while maintaining full transparency with our community.
